Austin FC targeting Argentine striker: report
Austin FC needs some goals
Austin FC has impressed at times this season, but one area where the expansion side has struggled is scoring goals. That problem might be addressed with a looming signing at striker.
Former Argentine youth international Sebastián Driussi appears headed to MLS and Austin FC according to reports. Currently on the books at Zenit Saint-Petersburg, Driussi has spent a successful tenure in Russia since making the move from River Plate in 2017.

Capable of playing as a lone striker or out wide, Driussi is an attacking player on the dribble and with good pace.
In 138 appearances for Zenit, Driussi has 24 goals and 22 assists.
Coming up through the ranks at River Plate, Driussi became a regular with the Argentine youth national teams. Now 25-years old, he had eight appearances and a goal with the U20 national team. At the U17 level he made 16 appearances and had seven goals.
Driussi a perfect fit with Austin FC
Austin FC desperately needs a goal scorer. Despite a relatively solid start to their first season in MLS, the club has struggled to find the back of the net.
Defensively, head coach Josh Wolff has done a good of organizing his team’s shape and tactically what needs to be done. Even their build-up play is solid. But putting away chances has been a struggle and that is where Driussi comes in along with other recent roster moves.
Austin FC sits bottom of the Western Conference with a 3-7-4 record (13 points). While they have played well considering the evolving state of their roster, they have just 10 goals scored in 14 games, tied with second-year side Inter Miami for the fewest goals scored in MLS.
Midfielders Cecilio Dominguez and Diego Fagundez lead the club in scoring with three goals a piece.
Since a 4-1 win over the Portland Timbers on July 1, Austin FC hasn’t scored in their last two games.
