Chris Mueller heading to Europe
Orlando City attacker Chris Mueller is heading to Hibernian of the Scottish Premiership the Scottish club announced on Thursday. Mueller won’t head to Europe until the conclusion of the current MLS season.

The move to Hibernian, who play in Scotland’s top flite, is a free transfer. Mueller’s contract with MLS us up at the end of the calendar year.
On Wednesday afternoon, Washington Post’s soccer insider Steve Goff reported that Mueller was moving to Scotland to join an unspecified club at the end of the year. Then on Thursday morning, Kristian Dyer of ‘MLS Multiplex’ reported via Twitter that Mueller’s destination was Hibernian.
On Wednesday, Orlando City announced via their team website and social media channels that Mueller was indeed leaving the MLS side:
“Orlando City SC and Chris Mueller have been involved in contract negotiations for some time, with the forward’s contract set to expire following the 2021 Major League Soccer season. Earlier, Mueller informed the Club that he has signed a pre-contract to join a European team upon the end of his time with Orlando City. The pre-contract was signed in line with all FIFA regulations.”
As noted, Mueller’s contract with Orlando City is valid through the end of the 2021 MLS season and will continue as a member of the Lions’ roster for the remainder of his time in Orlando.
Who is Chris Mueller?
The soon to be 25-year old Chris Mueller is an exciting young attacking talent.
In 108 MLS games, Mueller, who can play on either wing or up top, has 21 goals and 18 assists. This season in 13 games, he has two goals and four assists.
In two appearances with the United States national team, Mueller has two goals.
The former Wisconsin Badgers standout joins former Houston Dynamo striker Christian Ramirez in Scotland. Ramirez headed to Aberdeen, also in Scottish Premiership, on a transfer move last month.
