MLS players feature heavily in United States national team’s Gold Cup roster
The United States national team released their provisional roster for the Gold Cup, a relatively young roster that heavily tilts towards MLS based players.
Fresh off their win over Mexico in the final of the inaugural Nations League, the United States national team is eyeing a deep run in the confederation’s top tournament. And while the majority of the preliminary roster for the upcoming Gold Cup is domestically based, it is still a strong and intriguing blend brought in by head coach Gregg Berhalter.

The United States is drawn into Group B of the Gold Cup along with Canada and Martinique as well as the always tricky ‘To Be Determined.’ The Americans are heavy favorites to advance out of the group and into the Gold Cup’s knockout rounds.
In 2019, the United States lost in the Gold Cup final to Mexico in a match played in Chicago’s Soldier Field.
The Gold Cup’s final will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas this year.
