Well, Toronto FC fans, Wednesday went better than any of us could have possibly imagined. A 1-1 draw against the reigning Liga MX champions Club Leon is spectacular given the squad they had coming into the match, being at altitude, and it being the clubs first competitive game since 2020. So, they’re starting the season off on the right foot, ignoring the injuries.

The big, and pretty much only, move this offseason was Greg Vanney leaving Toronto following his contract expiring. Vanney’s departure left TFC searching for a new head coach for the first time since 2014. The club subsequently hired former New York Red Bulls boss Chris Armas, more on him in a second. The club also re-signed defenders Eriq Zavaleta and Justin Morrow. A couple of SuperDraft selections and a rumour surrounding a possible DP rounded out Toronto’s offseason.
