MLS Transfer News: The league welcomes plenty of foreign arrivals

Nashville SC acquires defender Nick Hinds from Seattle Sounders for $50,000 General Allocation Money. The 23-year old Hinds joins Nashville following three seasons with Tacoma Defiance, where he made 60 appearances. Before his run-in USL, he played for the University of Akron Zips while his rights were owned by Seattle.
Atlanta United signs midfielder Franco Ibarra from Argentinos Juniors for a fee in the region of $2-$2.5M. New manager Gabriel Heinze has made it a point to revamp the CDM position this offseason, and that trend continues with the 19-year old Argentine Ibarra. The midfielder featured 11 times for Junior’s first-team and has represented Argentina with the U-18 side.
Atlanta United loans midfielder Adam Jahn to Orange County SC. Although the veteran midfielder was waived, his rights went unclaimed, allowing Atlanta to pursue a loan deal. Jahn heads back down to USL Championship, a place he has been comfortable in during his career.

Orlando City signs winger Silvester van der Water from Heracles Almelo for $1.32M.
A 24-year-old dutch native, van der Water, developed with Almere City’s academy before joining the senior-team in Netherland’s second tier and then Heracles in Eredivise.

Inter Miami signs defensive midfielder Gregore from Bahia for $4M. A physical and hard-working CDM, the 26-year-old was a mainstay for Bahia, totaling 124 appearances in three seasons.
Houston Dynamo loan defender Erik McCue to United States Charleston Battery on a season-long deal. Born in Sweden, the 20-year old defender spent time in the DC United academy before joining Houston Dynamo’s, ultimately signing a Homegrown contract with the Texas club.
Nashville SC signs goalkeeper Bryan Meredith from Vancouver Whitecaps on a free transfer. The well traveled 31-year old joins his ninth club.

Philadelphia Union signs defender Stuart Findlay from Scotland Kilmarnock for $300,000. A product of Celtic’s academy, Findaly is a ball playing defender with plenty of professional experience to replace the recently departed Mark McKenzie.
Al-Shorta DC signs striker Gelmin Rivas from D.C. United on a free transfer. The 31-year old forward made 13 MLS appearnces before departing for the Iraqi club.
FC Lugano signs left-back Reto Ziegler from FC Dallas on a free transfer. The 13th club in the former Swiss internationals career, the end is near fir Ziegler. The 35-year old laced up for clubs such as Tottenham, Juventus, and Fenerbahçe. Fun fact, Ziegler left Spurs due to the arrival of a young left back, Gareth Bale.

Red Bull Salzburg loans goalkeeper Carlos Miguel Coronel to New York Red Bulls until the end of 2021. Coronel finds himself loaned out once again, this time to another Red Bull owned club. The 24-year old made four appearnces for Philadelphia Union in 2019.
