It is no secret that LA Galaxy want to re-sign Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors, but there has been a twist in their pursuit of him.

LA Galaxy transfer target Cristian Pavon is having surgery on both his ankles, as per a report by the official Major League Soccer website. Greg Vanney is keen to lure him back to California as he gears up for his first season in charge having previously been at Toronto FC. However, his chances of making this signing hang in the balance at the moment.

Pavon, who is 25 years old, is set for two months on the sidelines as he recovers from his surgery meaning that he and the Galaxy face a race against time if he is to be back playing in the MLS in 2021. The new campaign begins on April 17and the Galaxy are hoping for a much improved year than the last one.

Bringing back Pavon would certainly make them a lot stronger and Vanney will be closely monitoring his road to recovery over the next eight weeks or so. He has been a key player for LA Galaxy over the past year-and-a-half and made 35 appearances altogether, chipping in with 14 goals and nine assists.

He joined Argentinian champions Boca in July 2014 having previously spent his career to date on the books at Club Atletico Talleres. They initially loaned him out to Colon before he went on to bag 29 goals in 118 games before his move to Los Angeles in 2019.

His time in Argentina could be coming to an end soon if he is able to get back to full fitness in time for the new MLS season. This is a situation for Galaxy fans to keep a close eye on.
