The goals keep coming for Matthew Hoppe in the Bundesliga. Against FC Köln, the 19-year-old striker scored Schalke’s lone goal in a 2-1 defeat. This latest goal for Hoppe increases his season total to five goals in seven appearances. With all five goals coming in January for Hoppe, only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski has scored as many goals this month in the Bundesliga. The USMNT eligible forward continues to impress as he emerges as a key prospect for the senior national team.

In France, Nicholas Gioacchini scored for Caen in the eighth round of the Coupe de France. The striker scored Caen’s second goal of the match as they defeated Guingamp 3-1 to advance to the next round of the domestic cup competition. They will face a difficult test in the next round as they will have to play against Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
