MLS Transfers: Breaking down a wild week of big moves

LAFC acquires forward Corey Baird from Real Salt Lake for $500,000 General Allocation Money, 2021 international roster spot, and future considerations. 2018 MLS Rookie of the Year; Baird has accumulated 15 goals and 13 assists for RSL
Chicago Fire FC signs forward Jhon Duran from Envigado FC for an undisclosed fee. At only 17, the energetic Colombian forward becomes the youngest international signing in league history. 6’3 with fantastic pace, the record signing will make his way to Chicago in 2022 following his 18th birthday per FIFA regulations.
LAFC sign right back Kim Moon-hwan from Busan IPark for $600,000. A dynamic full back adept at attacking and defending, Kim was a two-time K. League 2 Team of the Year selection and has 11 international caps for the South Korean senior team.
Columbus crew sign former Wake Forest midfielder, 20-year old Isaiah Parente, to a Homegrown contract. The academy product made 50 appearances for the Demon Deacons registering three goals and 19 assists.

Real Salt Lake sign 16-year old goalkeeper Jeff Dewsnup to a Homegrown contract. Capped with the USMNT U-17’s, Dewsnup becomes the club’s record youngest signing.
Newly rebranded Club de foot Montreal signs forward Sunusi Ibrahim from 36 Lion FC for an undisclosed fee.
18-year old Ibrahim will look to replicate his scoring exploits in the stats, having led the Nigerian First Division scoring charts in 2019.
LA Galaxy acquires left back Jorge Villafana and Portland’s first-round pick (16) from Portland Timbers in exchange for LA’s first-round pick (8).
The 31-year old fullback has made 188 appearances in MLS with Chivas USA and Portland Timbers, winning an MLS Cup in 2015 and MLS is Back Tournament last summer.

Dallas FC acquires Colorado Rapid’s first-round pick (15) from Colorado in exchange for winger Michael Barrios and Dallas FC’s first-round pick (21). Since joining Dallas in 2015, the creative Barrios has made 179 appearances while registering 31 goals and 44 assists.

LA Galaxy sign goalkeeper Johnathan Bond on a free transfer from West Bromwich Albion. The 27-year old goalkeeper has made 122 appearances across the Championship, League One, and League Two.
FC Dallas acquires the homegrown rights and signs winger Kalil ElMedkhar from Philadelphia Union in exchange for $50,000 General Allocation Money. A sell-on fee and performance-based incentives can increase the initial fee for the winger who made 66 appearances for the University of Kentucky, collecting 20 goals and 21 assists.
FC Tulsa signs forward Jerome Kiesewetter on a free transfer from Inter Miami FC. A former member of the USMNT, Kiesewetter only made two appearances for Miami in his lone season with the club.
San Antonio FC sign midfielder Chris Lema on a free transfer from New York Red Bulls. A 2019 USL Championship All-League Second Team selection, the 24-year old had been with New York since joining the academy in 2010.
Houston Dynamo sign winger Tyler Pasher from Indy Eleven for a potential $50,000 fee. Formerly of Sporting KC, Pasher makes his return to the MLS following a successful spell with Indy. During his tenure, Pasher made 50 appearances scoring 23 times and assisting on six goals.
Phoenix Rising sign left back Deklan Wynne on a free transfer from Colorado Rapids. A New Zealand international, Wynne made 36 appearances for Colorado from 2018-2019.

Scottish Premiership side Hibernian FC sign defender Chris Cadden from Colombus Crew for an undisclosed fee. Cadden shined during his loan to Motherwell from the Crew before the 2020 season. Unfortunately, the native Scott chose to head home in search of more game time.
San Antonio FC signs forward Justin Dhillon on a free transfer from Seattle Sounders. The 25-year old heads back to the USL, where he has scored 22 times in 65 appearances. Most recently, his spells with the Tacoma Defiance have netted him 13 goals in 26 appearances.
FC Dallas loan winger Freddy Vargas from Deportivo Lara. Dallas holds an option to buy for the 21-year-old Venezuelan who had featured regularly for Deportivo since 2017.
Saprissa sign defender Kendall Watson on a free from FC Cinncinati. Watson appeared 157 times from 2014-2020 for the Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Cinncinatti, featuring has a captain for both. He was released following the 2020 campaign.
