LA Galaxy want to sign goalkeeper Jonathan Bond from West Bromwich Albion
LA Galaxy wants to sign goalkeeper Jonathan Bond from West Bromwich Albion. They are in the process of securing a deal to bring the stopper to MLS, according to a report by Sky Sports. Here are three things for their fans to know about him-
Back-up at West Brom
Bond, who is 27 years old, joined the Baggies in July 2018 and has since been used as a back-up option. He has made seven appearances for the Midlands club over the course of the past two-and-a-half seasons, the majority of which came in cup competitions. He was part of the Albion side who were promoted to the Premier League last season but is set to depart halfway through their top-flight campaign for Galaxy now.
Spells at Watford and Reading
The 6ft 5inc ‘keeper started his career at Watford and went on to make 33 appearances in all competitions for the Hornets. However, he spent a lot of time out on loan away from Vicarage Road with spells at Dagenham and Redbridge, Forest Green Rovers, and Bury.
Reading came calling for him in 2015 and he spent three years on the books with the Royals, some of which he spent on loan at Gillingham and Peterborough United, as again, he was mainly used as their number two.
Ex-England youth international
Bond actually represented Wales at both Under-17 and Under-19 level before switching his allegiance. He then played for England at Under-20 and Under-21 level and he last played for his country seven years ago. He also holds a US passport, which will make his move to LA a lot easier. He will be itching to get his move to Galaxy sorted as soon as possible and will be looking to make their number one spot his own.
