2. Osaze De Rosario could work his way up to New York City FC

More from MLS Multiplex

New York City FC would not have to go far to sign Osaze De Rosario.  De Rosario is already in NYCFC’s academy and would make an excellent homegrown signing.  The U-19 player has shined since moving from Toronto FC’s academy and impressed during the 2020 preseason with the first team.

A top prospect, the Canadian tends to play as a center-forward.  He is a natural goal scorer, and NYCFC desperately needs another center-forward or striker.

If they are looking to invest in the future, then De Rosario would be the right signing for the club.  Even in the case the Pigeons are looking to sign an established center-forward or striker, they should still sign De Rosario before other teams come calling.  He is too talented not to sign.

Moreover, if allowed to develop properly, the academy player has the potential to move to Europe.  Just watching film with the U-19, and seeing him play with New York City FC’s first team in the 2020 preseason, illuminates his potential.  Already a proven goal-scorer, his dribbling techniques and speed allow him to act as a provider as well.  He has a never-back-down personality on the pitch and will battle for his teammates and the club.

Even though the immediate impact from the 19-year-old is unknown, there is no doubt he has the potential and ability to excel for NYCFC.  The club should grab him now, for it would be no surprise if other MLS clubs, or even Europe, comes calling.  From a business standpoint, the team should sign De Rosario, for they have a high possibility of making a profit later on.  Nevertheless, he is a player worth investing in and should be given the opportunity to play professionally.
