LA Galaxy can lure another great in Lionel Messi
They are no strangers to luring footballing greats to LA. The likes of David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have made the move to California. Ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez also still plays there now. Messi, who is 33 years old, is someone they should look at signing.
Galaxy had a very disappointing 2020 season and didn’t even make the playoffs. Dominic Kinnear’s side have not won the MLS Cup since 2014 and other sides are starting to take over them now. They need an inspiration signing to catapult themselves back up the league table and to start being a force to be reckoned with in MLS again. Step forward Messi.
The 5ft 7inc wizard has scored 644 goals in 749 appearances for Barcelona in his career to date and counting. He will go down as one of, if not, the greatest footballer to ever grace the planet. He would ideal for LA Galaxy and there is no doubt they would want to sign him if he was to become available. However, like always, there will be plenty of league rivals for his signature.
The Galaxy will start to hunt for a new player to replace Cristian Pavon, who is set to return to parent club Boca Juniors. He was their main man this past year and losing him for 2021 is a massive blow. Pavon, who is 24 years old, is a teammate of Messi’s from Argentina and should put in a good word for his former employers. His departure will leave Kinnear scratching his head over who to sign to replace him.
