LA Galaxy need to do everything to keep Julian Araujo for next season
LA Galaxy need to go all-out to keep Julian Araujo at the club for next season. The right-back is one of their most prized assets and their chances of success in 2021 could depend on whether they sell him or not. The youngster is being tipped for a bright future in the game but could do with another 12 months of guaranteed first-team soccer to help him develop more and get more experience under his belt.
Araujo, who is 19 years old, is bound to start attracting interest from Europe. He has been linked with Italian giants Juventus and it is no surprise to see LA Galaxy facing a battle to keep hold of him this winter. The full-back has made 37 appearances for Dominic Kinnear’s side so far and has chipped with a single goal and three assists from defence.
The California-born man has risen up through the youth ranks with LA Galaxy and is a credit to the work they are doing with younger players. They won’t want to lose him yet and they could be in for a double blow with Cristian Pavon set to return to parent club Boca Juniors next month. He has been a key man since his move to Dignity Health Sports Park and his pending departure is a real sucker punch.
LA Galaxy need to perform better in 2021 and keeping Araujo for next year would be a shrewd bit of business. There is no doubt they need reinforcements to their roster in the post-season and a replacement for Pavon is needed. It could prove to be hard to keep a promising talent like Araujo, especially with clubs across the Atlantic starting to look at American talent.
