New England Revolution get it right with Wilfred Kaptoum

New England Revolution have needed someone like Wilfred Kaptoum for a while
Wilfred Kaptoum is an inspired signing by New England Revolution. His acquisition has got their fans excited and he is someone who they have been crying out for over recent years. Bruce Arena’s side lost to eventual MLS Cup winner Columbus Crew in the play-offs last month but are hoping to take that one step further in 2021.
Kaptoum, who is 24 years old, will be eager to hit the ground running in MLS next year. He will offer the Revs some much-needed competition and depth in their midfield department. The 5ft 7inc midfielder is calm on the ball, will add more energy into the Revs’ ranks, and arrives with some serious pedigree.
He is has been called up to the Cameroon national team in the past and will be looking to start establishing himself as a regular for his country. He has also rubbed shoulders with some of the best players in the game during his time in the academy at Barcelona.

Kaptoum wasn’t able to forge a career for himself at Camp Nou but has now made the move over to America to make a name for himself in MLS.
With New England, he has joined an ambitious club who are looking in good shape to make another push for the playoffs next year, and with him in their roster, they stand every chance of success.
The tough-tackling midfielder rose up through Barca’s youth ranks and went on to play three times for their first-team as a youngster.
He then left the Spanish giants in 2018 for Real Betis and has since made eight appearances for them. Kaptoum spent time last season on loan in the second tier at Almeria but left Betis in October. He has since weighed up his options but has now made the move to MLS.
