FC Dallas are signing Jose Antonio Martinez from Eibar

FC Dallas are signing Jose Antonio Martinez from Eibar. The Spaniard is poised to link up with the MLS side as they look to strengthen their backline for 2021, as announced by Eibar’s official club Twitter account.

FC Dallas finished 6th in the Western Conference this past year and will be hoping their new acquisition can help tighten up their defence going into the 2021 season. Martinez, who is 27 years old, is 6ft 2inc and will be eager to prove a point as he makes the switch over the pond from Europe.

Martinez has spent the past two campaigns out on loan from Eibar at Granada. He signed for the La Liga side in in 2018 but has never made an appearance for them. Instead, they shipped him out on loan and he was able to help Granada gain promotion from the Spanish Segunda Division in his first year there. They then decided to bring him back on loan last term and he enjoyed their stint in the top flight.

However, Granada decided against signing him for a third time over the past summer and he has since been sidelined for Eibar. A new chapter in MLS is now on the horizon and he will be excited for a fresh start in Dallas. Martinez has spent his whole career to date in Spain and has also had spells with the likes of Sevilla and Barcelona, but only ever played for them at B team level.
