Sporting Kansas City’s Gianluca Busio is on the radar of Barcelona

Sporting Kansas City youngster Gianluca Busio is wanted by Barcelona. The teenager has caught the eye of the European giants and they are keeping close tabs on his progress, according to a report by Spanish news outlet Sport.es.

Busio, who is 18 years old, has burst onto the scene at Sporting KC and may be rewarded with a big move to Europe. He is being tipped for a bright future in the game and the fact that Barcelona are being linked is a credit to the work the Major League Soccer side have been doing with their younger players.

The United States Under-20 international joined the Wizards in 2016 having previously been on the books at local side North Carolina Fusion. He signed a Homegrown player contract three years ago, which made him the youngest to sign with an MLS club since DC United landing Fredy Adu back in 2004.

Busio has since gone on to make 48 appearances in all competitions for Peter Vermes‘ team and they are likely to face a real battle to keep hold of him in the future. Barcelona can do transfer business in January and it will be interesting to see if they make a move for him.

Sporting KC led the way in the Western Conference this past year and will be hoping for more of the same in 2021. However, they might have to bat away interest from the mighty Barcelona if they want to keep hold of the promising Busio.
