DC United need to step up interest in Arsenal player

DC United need to go all-out to lure Mesut Özil to Major League Soccer
DC United have to step up their interest in Arsenal starlet Mesut Özil this winter. The MLS outfit have been linked with a move for him recently, as per a report by the Daily Mail, and signing him would be the best bit of business they have ever done.
Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney rocked up in Washington a couple of years ago but acquiring Özil would be a bigger statement of intent. DC United, who are currently manager-less, will want to be pushing for the playoffs next year and need someone with the quality of Özil to help them establish themselves in the upper reaches of the table.

Özil needs a fresh start having been frozen out by Arsenal and a move to America could be something he seriously considers as he weighs up the next chapter of his career. At the age of 32 he still has a good few seasons left in him and isn’t ready to hang up his boots yet.
The ex-Schalke, Werder Bremen and Real Madrid man has won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, so has the pedigree needed to be DC’s next big name. Özil has been with Arsenal for the past eight years and has scored 44 goals in 252 appearances for the London club.
He has also helped the Gunners win the FA Cup three times. DC United should cough up the money to bring him over the pond during the off-season in what would be the most eye-catching signing for next year.
