USMNT abroad: Reyna continues strong start to Bundesliga season

Giovanni Reyna scored his third goal of the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign

The start to the Bundesliga season has gone very well for Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna. Against Stuttgart, the United States Men’s National Team player scored his third goal of the season. In his last three German top-flight appearances, Reyna has registered at least one goal or assist. Although the match ended in a loss for Dortmund, the USMNT forward has continued to be an encouraging sign that the future is looking bright for the German club.

More goals and assists from the weekend

After scoring in two consecutive matches for Juventus, Weston McKennie picked up an assist for his club. The midfielder set up Paulo Dybala’s goal in Juventus’ 3-1 victory over Genoa in Serie A action. It was McKennie’s second assist of the Serie A campaign. Elsewhere, Matthew Olosunde registered an assist for Rotherham United in a 2-0 victory over Bristol City.

In Germany, Julian Green scored his fourth goal of the 2.Bundesliga season as Greuther Furth defeated Sandhausen 3-0. Andrija Novakovich scored his fifth goal of the season for Frosinone as they drew Lecce 2-2. Novakovich has scored three goals in his last two appearances for the Serie B club.

Other notable performances

Tyler Adams and Josh Sargent both played in the RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen clash. Sargent started the match and finished with one shot and four shot-creating actions. Adams entered the match in the second half and registered two interceptions and one tackle. Leipzig won the match 2-0 to remain in the top four in the Bundesliga.

Antonee Robinson played all 90 minutes for Fulham in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League. The USMNT defender finished with four tackles, two interceptions, five clearances, and one blocked shot. Elsewhere in the Premier League, DeAndre Yedlin made a brief appearance for Newcastle United in the second half of a 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion. This was Yedlin’s first appearance in the English top-flight this season.

In Spain, Yunus Musah started and played 59 minutes for Valencia in a 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao. Musah had two tackles, one clearance, and one interception. Sergino Dest played all 90 minutes for Barcelona in their 1-0 win over Levante. Dest finished with one interception, one tackle, and one key pass.

Matt Miazga played all 90 minutes for Anderlecht as they defeated Genk 1-0. The defender had one key pass, one interception, one blocked shot, four clearances, and won eight aerial duels. Fellow USMNT defender John Brooks played the entire match for Wolfsburg in their 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. Brooks had three interceptions and one clearance.

After scoring in mid-week Europe League action for Lille, Timothy Weah made a second half appearance for the French club against Bordeaux. Weah produced one shot and registered two tackles in the 2-1 victory for Lille.
