USMNT: December roster mixes youth with sparse experience

A Look Into The Future
While one might initially look at this roster and see names like Brenden Aaronson, Mark McKenzie, and Daryl Dike and think that they may get the chances, don’t be surprised if others get a shot as well. There are two major youth competitions next summer (the U-20 World Cup and the 2021 Olympics) and some crucial decisions to be made.
With 15 players eligible for the Olympic qualifying, this seems like a great opportunity to develop some great continuity together and even gain some experience with the senior national team ahead of a busy and crucial 2021 for U.S. Soccer. It will be interesting to see how some of the lesser experienced players perform under such a bright spotlight.
Another aspect of this camp has to be recruitment. With three Mexican-Americans still deciding which nation they will represent at the senior level, this camp will serve as a good chance for the players to stay connected with the USMNT. This trio includes David Ochoa, Julian Araujo, and Efrain Alvarez Showing these three that there is a path to the USMNT can only help the case for the Berhalter.
