USMNT abroad: Josh Sargent registers an assist against Bayern Munich

Werder Bremen striker Josh Sargent picked up an assist against Bayern Munich.

One of the United States Men’s National Team’s most promising strikers registered an assist against reigning UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich. Josh Sargent set up Maximilian Eggestein to score Werder Bremen’s lone goal of the match in the 1-1 draw with Bayern. It was the American striker’s second assist of the 2020/21 season. Sargent was also able to record three shots in the match, two of which were saved by Manuel Neuer. So far this season, Sargent has one goal and two assists in eight Bundesliga appearances.

Goals and assists elsewhere

Sargent wasn’t the only USMNT player making an impact for their club over the weekend. Aron Johannsson continues his impressive goal scoring record in Sweden as he scored a goal for Hammarby in a 2-2 draw against Malmo. It was Johannsson’s 12th goal of the 2020 Allsvenskan season. Nicholas Gioacchini drew the foul that led to the match-winning penalty kick for Caen in the French club’s 2-1 victory over Le Havre.

After an impressive performance against Panama, Richard Ledezma picked up an assist for Jonh PSV Eindhoven in a 3-3 draw. Ledezma has two goals and two assists for Jong PSV so far this season. Elsewhere, it was Julian Green who found the back of the net for Gruether Furth in a 3-1 victory over Jahn Regensburg in 2.Bundesliga action.

Other notable performances

Tyler Adams played the entire match for RB Leipzig as they drew Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1. Adams completed 91% of his passes and recorded three tackles and four blocks. Giovanni Reyna made a brief appearance for Borussia Dortmund entering in the 77th minute of a 5-2 victory over Hertha Berlin. Reyna recorded two shots, one of which was on target. Lastly in the Bundesliga, John Brooks played the entire match in Wolfsburg’s 2-0 win against Schalke. The defender finished with one tackle, four interceptions, and four blocks.

Sergino Dest entered in the 62nd minute of Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. Dest went on to complete 94% of his passes. Elsewhere in Spain, Yunus Musah played all 90 minutes for Valencia in a 2-2 draw with Alaves. The 17-year-old had three shot-creating actions, three tackles, and four successful dribbles.

Antonee Robinson played all 90 minutes in Fulham’s 3-2 loss to Everton. Robinson finished with one interception, one block, and three shot-creating actions. In France, Timothy Weah made a brief appearance for Lille as he entered in the 86th minute of the 4-0 win over Lorient. Weston McKennie entered in the 69th minute of Juventus’ 2-0 victory over Cagliari. McKennie completed 81% of his passes and had one shot-creating action.

Reggie Cannon played the entire match for Boavista as they defeated Vizela to advance to the next round of the Taca de Portugal. Fellow USMNT defender Matt Miazga played all 90 minutes for Anderlecht as they fell 2-1 to Beerschot. Lastly, Johnny Cardoso entered in the 62nd minute of Internacional’s 2-1 loss to Fluminese in Brazilian top-flight action.
