Three USWNT players got on the scoresheet for their respective clubs in the FA WSL weekend matches.

It was a strong showing from the USWNT players in the FA Women’s Super League this past weekend. Three players found the back of the net for their respective clubs. The goalscorers were Christen Press, Tobin Heath, and Sam Mewis.

For Press and Heath, their goals marked their first tallies for Manchester United in the FA WSL since arriving in September. Both of their goals were instrumental in Manchester United’s 4-2 victory over West Ham United on Sunday. Heath scored in the 23rd minute and Press wrapped up the three points in the 87th minute with a late goal.

Mewis’ goal in the 56th minute helped Man City rescue a point against Reading. She cut inside from the left and rocketed home from just inside the penalty area. It was her second goal of the FA WSL campaign for Man City. She also scored against Tottenham Hotspur in a 4-1 victory earlier this month.

At the end of matchday five, Manchester United occupies third place in the table while City is in fifth place. The two Manchester clubs are set to meet on November 15th for their first of two meetings this season.

More goals to come from the USWNT stars

The FA WSL season is just getting started and they are sure to be more goals to come from the USWNT players in the English top flight. Press and Heath were making just their third appearance for Manchester United in the FA WSL. Heath has already proven to be the standout USWNT player in the league with one goal and two assists in her three appearances. Press has amassed an impressive scoring record in previous seasons playing abroad which indicates she should continue to have an impact.

Mewis is getting plenty of playing time at Manchester City and has been one of their best players so far this season. Her USWNT teammate Rose Lavelle has joined Mewis at the club and has made three appearances. Both of these players are capable of being impactful for City as the 2020/21 campaign continues.

Next. Caden Clark providing an instant impact. dark

Alex Morgan is going to be another player to watch when she begins playing for Tottenham. She did not feature for the club this weekend but when she does there should be goals to come from the USWNT striker. Tottenham have scored just three goals so far this season and they can certainly benefit from Morgan being in the starting XI.
