Nashville SC: 3 ways they can easily secure a playoff spot
By Alex Miller
1. Do no shy away from counterattacks
Early in the year, Nashville players looked uncomfortable out of possession, but with the unpredictability of the season, they have fallen more comfortable. The two consecutive games against FC Dallas demonstrated how well they can play moving end-to-end quickly.
The most recent match, specifically, highlighted the usefulness of quick wide play. Muyl and Abu Danladi have proven they are fit enough to work box-to-box and operate as easy outlets. A two-striker system could offer an easy outlet for both counterattacking and mixing up the midfield to throw defenses off.
Mukhtar as a false nine under Badji or Cadiz would also work, but the bottom line is for Nashville to be successful on the counter they need to use wide outlets like Muyl and/or have a strong partnership between the opposition’s midfield and defensive lines.
