MLS Power Rankings: 12. Los Angeles FC (+1)

The reigning Supporters’ Shield holders Los Angeles FC continued their topsy-turvy season with another victory, to continue a run over their last six matches where they have won, lost, won, lost, won, lost.

It has not been prime LAFC in 2020, with Carlos Vela firstly opting out of the MLS is Back tournament, before then getting injured on their return to regular-season action. They showed they did not need him in their clash with Real Salt Lake on Sunday, though, as goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips, Diego Rossi, and Brian Rodriguez helped them to a comfortable 3-1 win.

The win takes the Black and Gold up into the top five in the Western Conference, and they will be looking to push on this week. But they have clashes against the Colorado Rapids and the Seattle Sounders to contend with.

MLS Power Rankings: 11. FC Dallas (+1)

The leading Texan side in this season’s MLS standings continues to be FC Dallas, and they secured a good point against the league leaders at the weekend, drawing 2-2 with Columbus Crew.

FC Dallas actually helped the lead twice in the match, with goals from Michael Barrios and Reto Ziegler putting them in front either side of the break. But the Crew were able to fight back from a goal down on both occasions, and the Texan side took a point away from the clash.

With that point, they now sit in 6th spot in the Western Conference and are just six points off top spot. This week, they face Texan Derby rivals Houston Dynamo, before a home game against Minnesota United at the weekend.

MLS Power Rankings: 10. Minnesota United (+1)

Following a worrying dip in form, Minnesota United have taken their first win in five regular-season matches, and have jumped back into the top ten on our MLS Power Rankings this week. This is also with putting themselves in a stronger position to reach the post-season for a second straight year.

The Loons came up against FC Cincinnati this weekend, with a first goal for the club for Kei Kamara, plus an insurance goal from Kevin Molino enough for Adrian Heath’s side to take all three points.

Minnesota United have just back into the top four in the Western Conference and are just five points off the top of the table. They play on Tuesday against Nashville SC, before traveling to Texas on Sunday for a clash with FC Dallas in two crunch Western clashes this week.
