Jordan Morris has been sensational for the Seattle Sounders so far this season.

The 2020 MLS season has gone very well for Jordan Morris. He has played a major role in the success the Seattle Sounders have been able to find in the Western Conference. Currently, the Sounders sit atop the table in the west and are closing in on Supporters Shield leaders Columbus Crew. Morris has been very impactful in helping his club get to the top and is showing no signs of slowing down in his production.

An offensive leader on Seattle Sounders

Morris has been one of the offensive leaders for the Sounders in 2020. He leads the club with six assists and is second in goalscoring with seven goals scored so far. When it comes to combined goals and assists, Morris leads the Sounders. This impressive tally puts him among the top 10 players in MLS for combined goals and assists.

When Morris is directly involved with scoring in a match there’s a good chance the Sounders will come away with the victory. In five of the six matches that Morris has either recorded a goal or an assist in this season, the Sounders have won.

This speaks to the impact Morris can have on the outcome of a match. One of the best examples of his influence on an outcome was in the first match of the 2020 season. Morris was subbed on at halftime and went on to score two goals to help lead the way to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire.

More recently, Morris was involved in the 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy. The American forward assisted on Cristian Roldan‘s first goal of the match and then went on to score a goal himself. His pace was an aspect of his game that the Galaxy was unable to stop and he capitalized on it to help pave the way to victory. This was yet another example of the impact he can have on the outcome.

A case for MVP?

Morris has certainly had a very good season and it could get even better depending on how the remainder of the 2020 campaign finishes. The 25-year-old has never won the MLS MVP award (or had a high rating in FIFA 21) before but this season appears to be the best opportunity of his career so far to earn the honor. He played a major role in getting the Sounders to the MLS Cup final in 2019 which they would go on to win. If he can replicate his postseason form from last year, and deliver the Sounders to another league title, then he has a legitimate chance of being the MVP for 2020.
