These new arrivals to MLS have been contributing to their club’s success

There have been many exciting new players that have impacted results in MLS so far this season. With plenty of offseason acquisitions during the winter and summer months, some are still getting adjusted to their new clubs while others are thriving. Here are five of the best-attacking players that have been signed so far in 2020.

Lucas Zelarayan

The Columbus Crew’s record signing has turned out to be a very good acquisition. Zelarayan has scored four goals and registered three assists in eight appearances. Injuries have limited his appearances in MLS but he is beginning to get reintroduced into the side as the season enters its latter stages. The 28-year-old playmaker is going to be a key player for the Crew in the postseason and could very well get them to the MLS Cup final in December.

Pablo Piatti

Piatti’s experience playing in La Liga is certainly showing in MLS. The 30-year old veteran player has registered three goals and three assists in 10 appearances for Toronto FC.

He was instrumental in a victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps in August when he scored a brace. More recently, he has a goal and an assist in his last two appearances for Toronto. If Toronto is going to contend for the Eastern Conference title in the playoffs, they will need Piatti to be at his best.

Franco Jara

FC Dallas’ new attacking threat has been phenomenal in his first month in MLS. The former Pachuca player has scored five goals in nine appearances and has helped guide his new club into a playoff position in the Western Conference. Jara has the potential to be one of the top goal scorers in the league. This was a player who was very consistent in Liga MX and it appears he will continue to be an effective goal scorer in MLS.

Rodolfo Pizarro

One of Inter Miami’s key signings for their first season has been getting increasingly more productive. In his last three appearances, Pizarro has registered an assist in every match. With a total of three goals and four assists, he has been the offensive leader for Miami in their inaugural campaign. Now with the addition of Gonzalo Higuain to the team, there could be more assists on the way from Pizarro.

Alan Pulido

Sporting Kansas City’s big offseason acquisition was one of the best Designated Players at the start of the 2020 season. He scored three goals and recorded four assists in his first five matches in MLS. As of late, injuries have kept him out of the SKC starting XI but he may be returning soon. Pulido can still have a major impact on the outcome of SKC’s campaign and more goals could be coming when he returns to action.
