Real Salt Lake have made a great decision to extend Damir Kreilach’s contract
The reliable Damir Kreilach has signed a contract extension with Real Salt Lake. Currently, in his third year in MLS, Kreilach has been a key component in RSL’s squad. The extension will see him stay at least until the conclusion of the 2022 season. There is an option for the club to extend the contract through the 2023 campaign.
Consistent production on Real Salt Lake
It has been a very productive career in MLS for Kreilach. Since arriving in 2018 he has been one of the best offensive players RSL has on their squad. In his first season, he registered 12 goals and eight assists during the regular season. During the MLS Cup playoffs that same year, Kreilach scored three goals and one assist to help lead the way in the postseason. One of his best moments came against Los Angeles FC in the playoffs when he scored an incredible goal to send them through to the next round.
One of the best things Kreilach brings to the table is his consistency. He has played over 30 matches in both of his previous seasons in MLS. The Croatian is a player that RSL can rely on to be fit and ready to go on matchday. His veteran presence and leadership have been crucial in RSL’s recent success qualifying for the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

During his career at RSL, the club have only lost twice in the regular season when Krielach scores. This is an incredible statistic that shows how much of an impact he can have on the outcome and getting points for the club.
Another great season ahead
Kreilach has not shown any signs of slowing down in his offensive production. Already in 2020 he’s scored five goals and recorded an assist in 11 appearances. He leads RSL in goals scored and combined goals and assists. With plenty of matches still to play this season, Kreilach appears he is headed for another double-digit goal season.
If RSL are going to qualify for the postseason for a third consecutive season, Kreliach is going to play a big role in their road to qualification. He has been their offensive leader so far this year and will need to continue to produce in order for them to do so. There’s no doubt he can be the man to help lead RSL to the playoffs. Kreilach has already displayed he can step up in the big moments when RSL needs him to.
Overall, this is a great move by the RSL front office to keep Kreliach through at least the 2022 season. He has proven to be a valuable player since arriving at the club from a long career with Union Berlin in Germany. Hopefully, Kreilach can continue to produce many more memorable moments for RSL.
