An outrageous goal from Pablo Ruiz allowed Real Salt Lake to earn a point
It was an incredible match between Real Salt Lake and the Seattle Sounders. Both clubs exchanged goals in a thrilling 2-2 draw. There were plenty of great moments throughout the 90 minutes but Pablo Ruiz’s match-tying goal took the top spot. He unleashed an absolute rocket in the 85th minute to score one of the goals of the season.
Pablo Ruiz scores first MLS goal with Real Salt Lake in style
The goal from Ruiz was surprisingly his first career goal in MLS. It would be hard to tell that was his first goal based on how well he hit the ball but it was his first tally for RSL. This goal should go down as one of the top goals of the entire season in MLS. It is certainly the top goal for RSL’s season alone.

After spending the majority of 2019 on loan, he appears to be ready to take on his role as a member of RSL’s first team. A moment like this should do wonders for his confidence while allowing him to get more opportunities in the starting XI from manager Freddy Juarez.
Another match, another point
RSL have now taken two points from their last two matches. After a crazy 4-4 draw against the Portland Timbers, they were involved in yet another come from behind effort against the Sounders. While the two points are better than no points at all, they’ve missed an opportunity to move further up the table.
With other clubs in the Western Conference finding it difficult to remain consistent RSL had a chance to move up past a number of clubs into third place with a victory against the Sounders. Their three upcoming matches will have to yield victories if they want to create a gap between them and the other clubs vying for the top eight.
Sounders stay near the top
The return to the MLS regular season has gone very well for the Sounders. They have yet to lose a match since coming back from the MLS is Back Tournament and are beginning to look like title contenders again. The reigning champions are in second place with their eyes set on the top spot.
Sporting Kansas City have played one more game then the Sounders have which leaves the opportunity for the Sounders to go on and take over first place. The Sounders will need to continue to get points on the road such as they did in this match if the top spot is to be theirs.
