Weston McKennie looks to be headed to Juventus in a major move

The soccer world might be focused on where Lionel Messi ends up but there is some other transfer news that you should be paying attention too. USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie is headed to Italy. According to CBS Sports, McKennie is headed to Juventus with the deal being worth $20-$30 million. Also according to CBS Sports, the deal would begin as a loan with a buy option.

Now, this would be a big move for McKennie. He would be joining one of the biggest clubs in the world. Also, he would be playing on a star-studded team. McKennie would be playing with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, Alex Sandro, Douglas Costa, and many more great players.

This would allow for McKennie to compete in the Champions League and have a chance of going far. With the talent on Juve’s roster, they should have a deep run in the tournament. Once again this continues to show just how much the USMNT is improving. You have players like Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, and Gio Reyna are making impacts in Champions League games. Pulisic is even up for a Premier League award for his performance this past season.

McKennie had an interesting season himself. In the Bundesliga this season, McKennie scored 3 goals at the age of 22. heading to Italy could be a great new challenge for the midfielder.

The young mid-fielder is entering the prime of his career. If he wants to reach his full potential, he needs to play against the best competition. Headed to Serie A to play for Juventus would be just what McKennie needs.

The future of the USMNT is rather bright. With players such as Pulisic, McKennie, Adams, Reyna playing against some of the best players in the world, the country’s soccer team could reach new heights. After failing to qualify for the most recent World Cup, the U.S. has a lot to prove. At this point, fans are just hoping they can advance past the group stage.

With all this talent, the United States needs to start performing. The program has been underperforming for too long. McKennie headed to Juventus would be a great move for the player and his country. Also maybe McKennie could convince Ronaldo to have his son play for the United States now that he and McKennie are teammates.
