2. Carranza to the rescue

Julian Carranza is the man of the moment.

It’s been a bit of an uphill battle for the young Argentinian; a nasty foot injury in early February kept him out for at least 12 weeks and delayed his La Rosa Negra debut. During that time, he had to watch from the sidelines where Inter Miami proceeded to lose their first two opening games against LAFC and DC United.

On Saturday night, not only did Carranza prove his doubters wrong, but he also gave people something to think about when discussing how to use Miami’s third and final Designated Player spot.

The 20-year-old had a Man of The Match worthy performance, scoring two goals, and being a critical piece in Inter Miami’s attack.

Carranza was everywhere.

He used his speed and his physicality to blow by Orlando’s defenders with ease, while also having the touch and technique (as seen in his second goal) to finish comfortably. He ended the match with a total of four shots and was fouled six times, most of those fouls gave Miami the upper hand when it came to set-pieces.

Inter Miami may need to look at another position when it comes to their third DP signing because Julian Carranza made an excellent case as to why he should be the team’s undisputed starter.
