The New York Red Bulls have acquired Samuel Tetteh, who is their new signing?

Another acquisition has been announced by the New York Red Bulls. Just a week after signing Dru Yearwood from Brentford, they have acquired Samuel Tetteh on loan from Red Bull Salzburg. Tetteh is a 24-year-old forward who will be on loan until the end of the 2020 season with an option to join on a permanent deal after the conclusion of the campaign.

Thus far, it’s been a career played primarily in Austria for Tetteh. The Ghanaian international first joined Salzburg in 2017 and has made 66 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga. Most of his time on the books at Salzburg has been spent on loan at LASK.

This past season he scored seven goals and registered five assists for LASK in the Austrian Bundesliga. Tetteh also made six appearances during LASK’s Europa League run to the Round of 16.

Samuel Tetteh will be a key player on the New York Red Bulls

A few appearances have come for Tetteh representing Ghana in international fixtures. In total, he’s made six appearances and scored one goal. His most recent involvement was at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

By acquiring Tetteh, the Red Bulls have gained a key player in their push to make the playoffs this season. The loss of Josh Sims will be alleviated by the addition of Tetteh who has shown to be productive in Austria.

As a winger, Tetteh can help aid the Red Bulls offensively as they look to get a goal-scoring spark Only one goal was scored by the Red Bulls during the MLS is Back Tournament.

They will need to be able to find the back of the net when the season resumes or they could be in for a long remainder of the 2020 campaign. Tetteh can certainly be a player who can come in and give them a boost on the attack.
