1. Union have the tools for a deep run

The Philadelphia Union will face either Sporting KC or the Vancoiver Whitecaps in the quarter-finals. They will fancy their chances against either, although SKC have been one of the more dangerous teams in the competitions thus far.

The Union’s form has been an incredible upswing since last season where they had their best season in franchise history. Jim Curtin has pushed all the right buttons and the 4-4-2 diamond did the job against their Eastern Conference rivals.

In current form, they are primed for a deep run. They have talent all across the pitch and a system that is excellent executed by the players who understand their respective roles superbly. The only concern is Kacper Przybylko, who was substituted due to a potential injury.

In this tournament, in such circumstances, why not the Union? Other teams in the tournament will find life difficult against Philadelphia, and that might be enough for them to make a deep run over the coming weeks.
