1. Guillermo Barros Schelotto under pressure

Regardless of the result, the LA Galaxy were always going to dominate the headlines. This is only more evident now that they are eliminated. Guillermo Barros Schelotto is on the hot seat. His team’s performance was better given that they only conceded from a direct freekick, but the problems that undermined his team last season and earlier in the 2020 season still remain.

The Galaxy completed almost 500 passes, had 10 corner kicks, and 64% possession. And yet, their only goal came via a penalty in stoppage time. They delivered aimless cross after aimless cross and seemed to lack offensive cohesion, which stems from the system that the coach installs.

The most successful club in MLS history is now off to their worst start in club history. They have scored four goals in four games, conceded 10, and have just two points, both of which came against Houston. Zero victories, second-bottom in the Western Conference, and a lack of hope for what is to come.

This team does not seem to have a chance to make the playoffs. And if that’s the case, Guillermo Barros Schelotto will be under real pressure.
