2. Rapids respond well… mostly

The Colorado Rapids came out with five changes from Sunday’s loss and played very well out of the gate, scoring an early goal through Kellyn Acosta. Entering half-time with the lead, the Rapids felt good, despite a controversial red card.

William Yarbrough impressed in his Rapids debut. With some crucial one-on-one blocks to keep the Rapids within a goal, the on-loan Leon keeper was critical to keeping the Rapids in the game.

In front of Yarbrough, the Rapids defense was very tight and secure.  They disrupted the rhythm of play for SKC and did a fantastic job of tracking all their dangerous attackers, though the sending offs did not help.

One thing that manager Robin Fraser didn’t like about his team was his captain, Jack Price, losing his head and getting sent off. While his passion is admirable and his frustration understandable, Fraser will expect better from his captain and leader, who will now miss the final group game. While the Rapids didn’t win the match, there can certainly be some positives to take from their performance.
