2. Schoenfeld or Amarilla?
Luis Amarilla was questionable entering this fixture after suffering an injury ahead of Minnesota’s opening match of the tournament. In the end, he replaced Aaron Schoenfeld, who was named the starting striker, as a second-half substitute.

After Amarilla came onto the pitch, he did not have the best outing, largely isolated and unable to get any clear shots off at goal. Schoenfeld, meanwhile, had a strong performance against SKC and appeared to be the better option based on his outing during the RSL match. Minnesota may need to beat the Colorado Rapids in their final group game. They also need goals, given the importance of goal difference.
Mason Toye started the first match and is the other remaining option to start against the Rapids. He was available on the bench during Friday night’s match, too, but did not enter as a substitute. As a result, it remains to be seen whether he will make another appearance in the starting XI during this tournament.
The starting role, then, seems to be between Schoenfeld and Amarilla. Going forward in the tournament, these two players will continue to fight for the starting role. Schoenfeld, who was not expected to be a regular starter, could very well become the main man for Minnesota, though Amarilla is worth sticking with, for now.
