1. Group C still wide open

As mentioned before, the result leaves the New England Revolution and Toronto FC tied at the top. with four points each. Toronto moved top of the group due to a superior goal difference, but given that they play one another next week, the Revolution have their own fate entirely in their own hands.

D.C. United, , meanwhile, are two points off the pace. They have not been impressive by any stretch, but have shown their resiliency to come from behind on both occasions to snatch a draw. They take on the last-place Montreal Impact, who sit bottom with two losses from two games.

As long as they win, they will almost certainly qualify for the knockout stages. With a win, they will leapfrog the loser of the Revolution-Toronto match, or could finish third with five points should the Revolution and Toronto draw and D.C. only win by one goal. Even in this instance, five points should be enough to place them in the top-four third-place teams. Montreal still has something to play for, too. They could finish third and could yet qualify for the knockout stages.

All in all, this leaves a wide-open group with plenty of permutations. These final two matches, then, will be intensely contested with plenty still on the line.
