1. Atlanta all but eliminated

With their second loss of the group stage, Atlanta United are all but eliminated from the MLS is Back tournament. The Five Stripes are yet to score a goal, let alone score a result. Now, all eyes will be on the tournament results leading up to Tuesday’s clash with the Columbus Crew.

Atlanta fans will quickly become supportive of other teams as they hope for specific results that will help their beloved Five Stripes advance to the knockout round. First and foremost, Atlanta need to beat Columbus for even the slightest chance of advancing. The rest of Group E have three points each as of writing this, making Tuesday night’s final game an absolute must-win.

In addition to beating Columbus, Atlanta supporters have to start rooting for other potential third-place finishers. Only the four best (out of six possible) third-place finishers advance to the knockout round. Although Atlanta’s chances of advancing as a third-place finisher are slim, with a win, they have a chance.
