Rory Dames has built up a team over the years that has terrific stability. Many teams stick with their stars and frequently change the supporting cast, but Dames has seemingly changed his star twice while keeping the supporting cast relatively the same.
But how much longer is this going to be possible? With expansion coming, players are going to have to be left unprotected in the expansion draft. Moreover, it is very difficult to keep all of your players happy, as evidenced by Sam Kerr’s desire to move to England and test her skills in Europe.
Players will eventually leave in one way or another. And that would leave the Chicago Red Stars without any silverware. This amazing feat of team-building will go to waste, and that would be a major shame.
