2. The Union’s excellent midfield

Jim Curtin’s side is perhaps one of the most well-managed clubs in MLS. At the helm since 2014, Curtin and his staff have assembled a team of MLS veterans and homegrown talent to create an intricate side that plays silky football.

Against NYCFC, the Union spent most of the game on the back foot with Andre Blake making seven saves to keep his team in the match. It wasn’t until Union captain Alejandro Bedoya made a breakthrough in the 67th minute that Philadelphia finally managed to get over the hump.

Against Miami, the Union’s midfield will have to dominate. The shaggy brilliance of Brendon Aaronson will give Miami’s backline trouble. His ability to find pockets of space and dictate from any place on the pitch will be tricky to track for Miami’s back three.

With Bedoya, Jamiro Monteiro, and Jose Martinez supporting behind him, Inter Miami will have to focus if they want to keep a clean sheet. The four-man midfield is the strength of the Union squad. Getting to grips with the control that they can provide Curtin’s side will be difficult for Miami.
