1. D.C. United have life

For however brilliant Toronto FC were in the first hour, and for however spirited and encouraging D.C. United’s late comeback was, their performance up until the final stages was utterly dire and left Ben Olsen scratching his head a little afterwards.

While he praised his team’s mental toughness and gritty attitude, he conceded in his post-match interview that they will have to improve if they are to be a competitive team in this tournament and beyond.

However, the performance may have been troubling, and certainly needs to be addressed before playing the New England Revolution, but D.C. United now have life. Sometimes, a spark is all you need to explode out of a slump. D.C. were certainly in a slump for the first hour, but they have talent littered throughout the squad. Perhaps they just need a kick up the backside.
