Real Salt Lake Vs Colorado Rapids: 3 things to watch for – Rocky Mountain clash
By Daniel Garza
1. The RSL new signings
Real Salt Lake made a number of new additions in the offseason. They acquired two new wingers in Justin Meram and Jeizon Ramirez to help alleviate the loss of Jefferson Savarino. Meram played in both of RSL’s MLS fixtures this season, while Ramirez made a brief substitute appearance. Ramirez is talented and should feature as a substitute in this match.
Another interesting RSL signing is Giuseppe Rossi. The former Manchester United player had not played since 2018 but RSL took the chance on his ability to help them offensively. He has only made one appearance since joining but he should fit and ready for the coming matches. It remains to be seen how effective he can be, but his pedigree is undeniable.
He used to regularly score north of 15 goals per season in La Liga and Serie A. He has played for Manchester United, Villareal, Fiorentina, and made 30 appearances for the Italian National Team. His problem has been injuries.
Nevertheless, it would be quite the storyline if Rossi can make an impact. His arrival at RSL was a surprise but who knows what he can produce at the MLS level? Sunday night will provide the first real answer.
