1. Has the defense improved?

A big reason why Wicky shifted formation was to try and bolster a struggling backline. The Fire were not dreadful at the back, but things weren’t ideal either. They conceded sloppy goals, which ultimately cost them.

Francisco Calvo made careless mistakes, while Johan Kappelhof wasn’t able to cover in time. Meanwhile, Brandt Bronico tried his best to cover at right-back but quickly became a liability that was exposed. He is not a natural full-back, and it showed.

The new formation and the arrival of Sekulic should help things right off the bat. Chicago showed plenty of promise going forward, but none of that will matter if they keep conceding goals at the back.
