3. Michael Barrios

The only member of our top five who has spent more than a couple of full seasons in Major League Soccer is Colombian winger Michael Barrios, who has been part of the FC Dallas first team for five years.

The Colombian started his professional career with Uniautonoma, and spent four years with the first division side, tallying more than 10,000 minutes for them before making the move to the United States.

MLS Career & Honours:

  • FC Dallas (2015-)

———————

  • Supporters’ Shield – 2016
  • U.S. Open Cup – 2016

More from MLS Multiplex

Since signing for FC Dallas before the 2015 campaign, there has only been one season where the Colombian has not featured in at least 32 league games, showing his consistency across that prior for the Texan side.

The 2016 season was Barrios’ best in terms of goals, as he found the back of the net nine times, as FCD went on to win the Supporters’ Shield for topping the regular-season league table. The club also won the U.S. Open Cup that year, but it remains the last piece of silverware the Texan side has been able to get their hands on.

Since then, the Colombian has created more goals than he has scored himself, recording a team-high 14 assists in the 2017 term. He would go one better than that in 2019, setting up 15 goals during the regular season, along with scoring five others. Only two men, in Maximiliano Moralez and Diego Valeri, recorded more assists during the campaign. Barrios also played all 180 minutes of FCD’s first two games at the start of the 2020 season, and will be raring to go come next month’s MLS is Back tournament in Orlando.
