The Bundesliga is returning to action and the USMNT players in the German top division will look to finish the season strong. Here are five players to watch.

The gradual return of football around the world continues this weekend as the Bundesliga will kick off to begin the completion of the season. There are multiple United States Men’s National Team players who will be playing in these fixtures in the coming weeks. For some, the fight for the Bundesliga title will be on the line while others will look to help their clubs finish as high as possible and avoid relegation.

Here are five USMNT players to watch as the Bundesliga returns to action.

5. Alfredo Morales

Midfielder Alfredo Morales has been a regular in the Fortuna Dusseldorf line-up throughout the 2019-20 season. He brings a high work-rate and helps his team in the middle of the pitch, whether that be as a substitute or in the starting XI. As it stands, Dusseldorf are in 16th place in the table. Relegation looms. After successfully staying in the German top flight last season quite comfortably, it remains to be seen if they can avoid dropping down this time around.

Dusseldorf, in fact, have two current USMNT players, Morales and goalkeeper Zack Steffen. Unfortunately, Steffen has dealt with injuries this season which have kept him sidelined. He will not be fit for the return of the campaign.

Morales has made a resurgence in his activity with the USMNT as of late and has the potential to be on a future World Cup roster. This is going to be a crucial time for him to be at his best as Dusseldorf look to avoid relegation. A strong performance to close out to the season can only help his chances of involvement with the World Cup qualifying campaign.
