New York City FC: 3 things future stadium should have
1. A wall of legends
As seen in teams all over the world, players do not need trophies to become legends. A team legend is someone who performs well and means a great deal to fans of that particular team. And New York City FC, despite their limited history, should look to honor their legends.
Take former captain David Villa. The now-retired Spanish international was the star and hero during the Pigeons first four years. He finished with 80 goals and won MVP in 2016. He was also the first player signed in history. NYCFC should revere their best players by having a wall of legends, and Villa would be the ideal first player added.
It could be on the outside or inside, be a mural or museum-like, or even be a timeline of a player’s career, but no matter how it is done, the Pigeons should honor those who gave their all while wearing the City crest. Furthermore, the wall could act as history for young or new fans. They can learn about former players and understand why they meant so much to the club and city.
As time goes on, players will be added. Alex Ring and Maxi Moralez seem set for such significance it would be nice to recognise their achievements once they have departed. It is important to honor your history. A legends wall would be the ideal way for New York City FC to do so.
