3. Yura Movsisyan

Yura Movsisyan is the best Armenian to ever take to MLS, and he did so over two spells. After moving to the United States with his family following the Pogrom of Armenians in Baku, he went to college in Pasadena. Movsisyan was drafted by Kansas City Wizards with the fourth overall pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft.

The Armenian striker struggled with injuries over his first year and a half in the league, only playing 28 times for KC before being traded to Real Salt Lake. It was there where he made his mark on the American top-flight.

Movsisyan went on to play 53 regular-season matches in his first spell in Salt Lake City and was part of the RSL side that went through to MLS Cup glory in 2009. He then left the club in the offseason, moving back to Europe. But after spells with Randers, Krasnodar and Spartak Moscow, he re-joined RSL for the 2016 campaign.

He featured a further 57 times for the club in the regular season over the next two campaigns, scoring 16 times and assisting three others. After four games with the Chicago Fire in 2018, the Armenian retired from professional football. He finished his MLS career with 150 matches, scoring 37 goals, with seven assists.
