4. Rodolfo Pizarro

Inter Miami wanted a ‘star’ to set their expansion season alight. There were links to some of the biggest names in world football, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez leading the queue. In the end, they had to ‘settle’ for Rodolfo Pizarro. Not bad at all.

Pizarro plays like a modernised number 10, with the creativity and goalscoring ability of more traditional options but allying that with athletic ability, stamina to bound up and down the pitch, and a willingness to work hard. He has proven this in his first two appearances for Miami, while also providing those impactful moments that the best DPs must.

In his debut, he took four shots against LAFC and completed 79% of his passes. He was the most fouled player on the pitch thanks to his slaloming dribbling. A week later, he scored Miami’s first-ever goal, completed 83% of his passes, created two chances, and was head and shoulders clear of every player on show. Pizarro will be one of the best players in MLS this season.
