4. Chris McCann

Next on MLS Multiplex’s list of the best Irishmen to ever play in the league is the most recent member of our top five, Chris McCann, who left the American top flight only last year.

McCann started out his professional career with Burnley and played more than 250 times for the club. He also had a stint at Wigan before signing with Atlanta United ahead of the 2017 MLS campaign, where he became a key part of their side, filling in at left-back.

He was part of the side that lifted the MLS Cup in 2018, playing 24 times and tallying over 1,800 minutes on the pitch that season. D.C. United then signed the Irishman but let him go just five months into the 2019 term. Following his release, McCann signed for Oldham Athletic back in England, where he still plays his football today.
