2. Bastian Schweinsteiger

He was always going to make this list, it was just a case of whereabouts. Bastian Schweinsteiger slots in at number two thanks to his performances for the Chicago Fire. He helped the club into the MLS Cup Playoffs in his first season in the league as he fit into the centre of midfield alongside Dax McCarty for the majority of the campaign.

The World Cup winner then started to make the transition into centre-half, bringing the sweeper position back to prominence. However, Schweinsteiger was still able to produce four goals and six assists in the 2018 campaign, whilst also getting accustomed to that role.

He played in Chicago for three seasons, appearing in 85 regular-season matches. Schweinsteiger scored eight times and assisted 15 other goals in that period, before retiring from football at the end of the 2019 campaign.
