CONCACAF’s recent generation of stars have been on the rise around the globe, including USMNT players. Here are the top five players in the CONCACAF region.
An exciting crop of players from the CONCACAF region has emerged around the world. The future is very bright for the young players in this group as they continue to make an impact for their clubs.
This includes the U.S. Men’s National Team, with several young players breaking into some of the top clubs around the world. Of course, Mexico are well-represented as ever, but there is an increasing number of USMNT and Canadian players beginning to make their mark.
Here are the current top five players from the CONCACAF region.
5. Carlos Vela
LAFC’s star player was the best footballer in Major League Soccer in 2019 and has shown no signs of showing down anytime soon. Carlos Vela is a potent goalscorer who attracted the attention of Barcelona after his dominant displays in MLS.
Despite not featuring for Mexico’s national team in quite some time, Vela remains one of El Tri’s top players globally. He was named the MLS MVP after the greatest individual season in MLS history. He broke the scoring record with 34 goals and average a direct involvement every 62 minutes, which is outrageous.
Vela is knocked down slightly due to the fact that he is not producing these performances in a top-five European league and that he has not recently played for Mexico either. Nevertheless, his performances in MLS have been remarkable and are more than worthy of mention.
