MLS: Top 5 English players in MLS history
By Matt Coles
1. David Beckham
There could only be one man who topped the list. The man that brought crowds of people along with him for his MLS journey. It is, of course, David Beckham. Beckham made the move to MLS, joining the LA Galaxy, in 2007.
The whole world started to get more interested in the American top flight as a result of his arrival, and it became increasingly popular in England following the move. He went on to win the MLS Cup twice with the Galaxy as they became the most recent club to win the title in consecutive seasons.
Following his retirement from the game, Beckham poured his heart and soul into a new MLS franchise, and he eventually got his wish, with Inter Miami CF beginning their top-flight journey in the 2020 campaign, with the Englishman as President of the club.
Without doubt, Beckham will be the most influential Englishman to ever feature in MLS for a long, long time to come. Name another Englishman that has their own statue outside an American stadium?
