Pablo Piatti: Toronto FC, Left Winger, 78 rated: Overrated

Pablo Piatti fell out of favor at Espanyol in the 2019-2020 season, mustering only three league and seven total appearances.

While he does have more to give at a lower level, as proven by being signed as a Designated Player by Toronto FC in the offseason, and should combine well with Jozy Altidore and Alejandro Pozuelo once healthy, he isn’t at the same level as the other 78-rated players in MLS.

This rating makes the Argentine the second-highest-rated left-winger in the league, whereas proven players such as Sebastian Blanco (Portland Timbers), Aleksandar Katai (LA Galaxy), and Daniel Royer (New York Red Bulls) are in the 75-76 range. Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr are each only 79 rated. Piatti’s rating should be closer to the aforementioned MLS pack, not some of the more talented young wingers in European football.
